“Hanukkah is an eight day celebration in which we celebrate our overcoming the war against the Greek Empire, who looked to inculcate Hellenism within the Jewish people” the rabbi explained to The Wave. “It became a celebration of light prevailing over the darkness … and we find that the strongest message that it carries is the idea that, in every dark situation, the most effective way to illuminate the darkness is not by attacking it, but by growing the light within your own life.”
